FAQs for High-Pressure Nitrogen Generators for Military Application
What are the major differences between a high- and low-pressure nitrogen generator?
A high-pressure nitrogen generator and low-pressure nitrogen generator both produce the same nitrogen gas, but different methods enable them to produce nitrogen at vastly different pressures.
High-pressure nitrogen generators like the N2GEN HPCD-01D and N2GEN HPCF-KO produce nitrogen from 2,200 to 3,500 psig while low-pressure generators produce nitrogen from 80 to 100 psig.
What happens to nitrogen at high pressure?
At high pressures, nitrogen condenses into its liquid state which is much more compact than nitrogen gas.
What are the different applications for a high-pressure nitrogen generator?
Military-grade high-pressure nitrogen generators can be used in various applications including:
Fill vehicle and aircraft tires and struts;
Fill high-pressure, gas suspensions;
Maintain pressure in firing chambers and recoil systems;
Pressurize fire suppression systems;
Refill fire extinguisher systems;
Provide backup ready-to-fill nitrogen supply via included cylinder;
Support JLTV and Stryker hydro-pneumatic, independent suspension systems and;
Any other high-pressure uses.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a nitrogen generator?
A nitrogen generator’s production of nitrogen gas is advantageous for various reasons. Without nitrogen gas, regular air takes it’s place. Air contains oxygen and water vapor which can wreak havoc on military equipment that needs to be reliable when it matters most.
Additionally, nitrogen generators are convenient, without a nitrogen generator to provide a continuous supply of nitrogen gas, cylinder delivery and management must be relied upon. Disadvantages of nitrogen generators include the up-front cost, which is more significant than ordering individual cylinders of nitrogen in the short-term, but pays off in the long run.
How reliable are nitrogen generators out in the field?
South-Tek Systems nitrogen generators are built for the field and extreme conditions. South-Tek Systems’ models require little maintenance and can be depended upon around the world no matter the terrain.
